Yo, I’m Christie. I’m currently a Product Designer at Meta, and I’m also part of the selected jury at Awwwards. My designs have a clean and modern aesthetic with experience ranging from video game, entertainment, consumer brands, automotive, and financial companies.

I love to travel! And I’ve lived in quite a few places myself. I grew up in Seattle, lived in Shanghai, studied at Boston University, worked in LA, and now I’m in the bay area. I adapt quickly to new environments and take inspiration from all of my experiences.

Common adjectives people have used to describe me are: resourceful, open-minded, independent, straightforward, ambitious, quirky, and curious.

Writer

During my free time I like to write design articles and other topics I am passionate about such as psychology and the ketogenic lifestyle. My writing style is pretty much how I talk; hyper-casual, sarcastic, and a little bit crass. Most of my articles are on UX Collective, and for a brief moment of stardom I was one of the top 5 design writers on Medium.

I like to watch anime, headbang to dubstep, and play video games. Fun fact, my first full-time job was working for a professional League of Legends team. And one day I will become hokage as I train my way up to black belt in karate. Boba is my religion and keto is my lifestyle. I’m also a great parallel parker.

Past lives
Swimmer

I swam competitively for 9 years and in high school I was captain of our Varsity Swim Team. In college I played on the women’s club water polo team as sprinter. Yes water polo is super hard.

Researcher

Before design, I had originally wanted to be a UX Researcher and spent three years working in an academic psychophysics lab. My work was later published in a paper in PNAS, a highly esteemed psychology journal as second author.

Business owner

From 2016-2020 I founded Tangy Design as a sole proprietor and sold hand painted water color designs. The designs were mainly of cell phone cases, sold online but also at pop up shops at various artisan markets in LA.

Event manager

I organized three large scale company events for Gaotime for their annual sports day. There were about 250 attendees and I had a lot of fun planning all the small details. I’m also usually the go-to person for fun events and food ordering at work.
